Storage of digital photographs - how and why have the picture itself disappeared?
In my Picture storage, suddenly all photos have disappeared and just a type of screen saver, all the same, have taken their place. If I double click on a photo, it does come up, but I cannot go in and see the photograph I want, then double click. How can I rectify this.
Please keep in mind I am a 77 year old, fairly new photographer, but have been able to grasp everything so far, accept for this sudden change in foremat.
This is a good heads-up.
Before you do anything, run your anti-virus program and then burn a CD or DVD of all your images so you have a backup if indeed your images are lost on your computer.
While I have never heard of a screen saver program attacking existing JPEG files, it is possible that there is a malicious program out there being offered for "free" that not only attacks your images, but keeps track of all your keystrokes, passwords and everything else (IM's email, etc)
