A fun & inexpensive way to make photo albums with two little girls ages 8 and 10?
My two nieces are coming for a visit and I'd like to help them remember the things we do that week with pictures and a nice album. I'm crafty and they love to help me...I'm kinda stuck on ideas for a cool album. I don't want it to be something cheesey and cheap looking though, I want it to be something they can keep and be proud of.
Have you ever heard of altered books? Get an old hard covered book. You can perhaps find them at a thrift store. Make a fabric slip cover if you would like or just run a small sponge roller brush (you can get at walmart) and cover it with paint in an art like fashion. Do this to the pages too and let them dry in between of course. Then simply get two sided adhesive tape and put the photos on each page. Another thing you can do to the cover is to take fabric and iron on a fabric adhesive like wonder under. Have the girls cut them out in all sorts of abstract shapes and then lay them on the book and iron to adhere.
I guess this is a cheap way to make an album. How ever, I never really find that something is cheap looking if it is a well thought out piece of art work. Instead of fabric, You may also take photographs either duplicates or old ones and tear them in random pieces with the torn edges. (If you would rather straight cut you could do that too. Glue them to the front cover.
Another idea would be to have the girls make the shape of the alphabet with their bodies spelling out "photos." Take a picture of each one and it becomes the title. O.K. that was the creative side of me, lol
