Does anyone know a code to maintain a web page hidden, except for spectators allowed?
I have a website through my AOL account that is visible only to certain viewers. I have another private domain through XO Communications, which allows "hidden" pages which can only be seen by unauthorized viewers and search engines can not even find the page. I just want to put the page in that domain, but for personal reasons, I prefer to use my AOL account storage. Does anyone know how to make a page "hidden" in AOL that is not shown to engines search or any person except for those who have been given the address?
You need to use a. Htaccess webpahe folder. View http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/howto/htaccess.html concrete examples for Apache, but this should work for other web servers too. This is essentially asking the visitor for a username and password before the requested page is displayed. I've personally used this feature extensively to make course materials available online exclusively for my students.
